Pedaler's Wares

Fall blazes in soon and that means more than just football, optimum walking/hiking/running weather and uber-tasty seasonal beers. Bicycling hits one of its peak periods, too. You can bike all day in the fresh air and beautiful scenery without fear of passing out from the killer heat of a 100-degree Missouri summer day. To capitalize on this prime pedaling season, the good-guy gearheads of St. Louis Bicycle Works sponsor the 2013 Mississippi Valley Bicycle Expo and Swap Meet on the Saint Louis University campus (236 North Compton Avenue). The event runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today only and it caters to two-wheel enthusiasts interested in some ideas for off-season projects, holiday gift-giving or an advance look at the newest bikes and gear for 2014. Admission is $5 per person; you can get more information by calling 314-441-6616 or by visiting
