Phantom of the Opera

The ever-popular Phantom of the Opera returns to St. Louis in an extravagantly updated production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's beloved classic about a lovelorn, mutilated musical genius who lurks beneath the Paris Opera. As this Phantom's passion deepens, he descends further into madness with tragic results. Although the "Music of the Night" remains relatively the same, Cameron Mackintosh's reboot features improved scenic designs and fresh choreography as well as bold costumes from Tony Award winner Maria Bjornson. There's also innovative stage direction from Laurence Connor along with enhanced lighting and special effects, including the production's big showstopper involving a chandelier.

8 p.m. Tue-Fri., 2 & 8 p.m. Sat., 6:30 p.m. Sun. (March 4-15). The Fox Theatre (527 North Grand Boulevard; 314-534-1111 or www.fabulousfox.com). $35 to $150.
Sundays, 6:30 p.m.; Saturdays, 2 & 8 p.m.; Tuesdays-Fridays, 8 p.m. Starts: March 4. Continues through March 15, 2015
