Photographing Large Events with Stan Strembicki

For the past 25 years I’ve photographed Mardi Gras in New Orleans, an event that is often described as the world biggest free party. The event is more than a big parade that passes thru the French Quarter on Fat Tuesday to the delight of the drunken and often topless crowds. No Mardi Gras is much more than that. It’s over 70 parades that happen throughout the surrounding area and often reflects issues of race, class, social status and the rich history of the area. As a photographer how do you make sense of it all?
