Pit er Pat

Saturday, March 19; the Lemp Neighborhood Arts Center, 3301 Lemp Avenue

This relatively unknown Chicago keyboard/bass/drums trio wants to get you moving. Pit er Pat's newest release, Shakey, on Thrill Jockey records, is a rhythmic art-pop record spiced with sweet female vocals courtesy of keyboardist Fay Davis-Jeffers. Images of various birds, gated communities and aquatic games populate the album, as do a few moral quandaries and some take-notice drumming by Neutral Milk Hotel contributor Butchy Fuego. As far as we can tell, the album's title is not a reference to Neil Young but instead an advertisement for the shaking, shuffling and head-nodding that Pit er Pat's sounds will surely elicit from you.
