Most people will say that, while sometimes necessary, war is a bad thing. But they’re not even considering how fun a game of tug-of-war is. Or how thrilling it will be to watch the War of the Pour finals. This liquored-up contest pits local bartenders against one another to see who is, in fact, the Boss of the Bar. Two rounds of the competition have already been held, and the winner of the spoils (not spills) shall be crowned this evening at Lafayette Pub (1551 South Seventh Street; 314-621-2181 or; free admission). We don’t know about you, but we’ve never met a bartender we didn’t like, so how these three judges will choose the champ is beyond us. But we’ll be there at 8:30 p.m., cocktail in hand, trying to place our bets on a winner.
