Pretty Paper

Gorgeous show

The best part of the holidays might be the variety. You get to see friends and family members with whom you don't often spend time, everyone's decorations have a personal touch, and, perhaps best of all, you get to open all kinds of beautifully wrapped presents from all kinds of folks. The Atrium Gallery at 4728 McPherson Avenue — a new location! — seems to want to tap into this sense of festive diversity with the Holiday Group Show, which opens Friday, December 5, with a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. The works of six artists, some local and some not, are featured in this exhibition, and the pieces range from drawings to sculpture. Perhaps most striking is the paper and gold-leaf work by Lore Bert (pictured); this piece's texture, along with its indulgent golden touches, evokes an elegant, regal vibe — and what's more merry than that? The exhibit remains up through Saturday, January 10, and the Atrium Gallery is open Wednesday through Sunday. Call 314-367-1076 or visit www.atriumgallery.net for more information.
Wednesdays-Sundays. Starts: Dec. 5. Continues through Jan. 10, 2008
