Reach the Breaking Point 

In most gallery spaces, "interacting" with the art means something like "using your mind to connect with the work, making the art figuratively jump off of the walls and into your psyche" or some such, and docents would really appreciate it if you could do all of that connecting with the art without getting too close to it, please. At the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis (3750 Washington Boulevard; 314-535-4660 or www.contemporarystl.org), the philosophy is a bit different. Or, at least it is this afternoon. From 4 to 6 p.m., you are invited to a free Piñata Closing Party at the museum, during which you will drink complimentary margaritas and try to break open artist Mariana Castillo Deball's piñata — and you won't be doing the latter because of overindulgence in the former. The Contemporary and the artist actually invite folks to bust into the bottle-shape work and dive for the goodies inside at this exhibit closing party — cool, huh? Plus, you'll get one last look at For the blind man in the dark room looking for the black cat that isn't there, the current exhibition at the museum.
