Rob Ruzicka's 30th Birthday Show

9 p.m. Saturday, April 10. Fubar, 3108 Locust Street.

Unlike "career-core" bands that commercialize hardcore by focusing more on T-shirt designs than songwriting, old timers such as New York's the Abused called it quits before the CD came into popularity — a time when T-shirts were often a Sharpie-Hanes combo. On Saturday, one of the original New York City hardcore bands will reunite for only its second show since 1983, in honor of hardcore scene member Rob Ruzicka's 30th birthday at Fubar. Ruzicka is flying in the Abused, along with Career Suicide (Toronto) and Formaldehyde Junkies (Minneapolis) for the one-time show. Ruzicka's own band Cardiac Arrest and Mad Men, the project of Fucked Up drummer/Career Suicide guitar player Jonah Falco, will also play.
