Run for Cats

Take a run, leave with a kitten? Possibly -- but, at the least, participating in Tenth Life Cat Rescue's fourth annual 5K/10K run supports cat adoption and animal care. The Hissin' Hustle, which takes place at 9 a.m. today at Tower Grove Park (4256 Magnolia Avenue; 314-808-2454 or www.tenthlifecats.org), is more than a race for charity -- there is also an area reserved for petting and playing with felines who are ready to go to good homes, plus a kitty ear-marking booth for those who want to add some flair to their racing gear. If you're not the running type, the one-mile Cat Walk option is your best bet. Awards are given to the fastest finishers, but the good feeling of hoofing it for homeless cats may last longer than any endorphin rush ever could. Race fees are $10 to $45, depending on how far you do (or don't) want to run.
