Saint Louis: State of Emergency Concert with Rick Ross

7 p.m. Monday, January 17. The Chaifetz Arena, One South Compton Avenue.

Controversial figure Rick Ross headlines this Martin Luther King Jr. Day concert at the Chaifetz Arena. The Florida rapper has built a reputation with his slow, Southern raps and drug-dealing persona and rose to mainstream prominence after the success of "Hustlin'" in 2006. Ross has maintained a presence on the rap charts ever since, despite his beef with industry giant 50 Cent after being outed as a former corrections officer. Also scheduled to appear on the bill is relative newcomer Waka Flocka Flame, who hit it big in 2009 with the crunk single "O Let's Do It." Waka released his debut album, Flockaveli, earlier this year; that featured the club single "No Hands." Rounding out the lineup will be female rapper Trina and R&B singer Lloyd.
