Saosin

6:30 p.m. Monday, December 4. Pop's (1403 Mississippi Avenue, Sauget, Illinois).

Saosin may have done time on two of the biggest festival tours of the year — the Vans Warped Tour and Taste of Chaos tour — but they're far from the typical Hot Topic fare. If you don't believe us, name another band who tallied over five million downloads on MySpace before they'd even put out their first record. Yeah, that's what we thought. Thankfully, the Southern California quintet doesn't disappoint with its recently released self-titled major-label debut, which introduces unorthodox song structures and electronic elements into the band's brand of progressive punk rock. If you've never seen Saosin before, expect a dramatic light show, plenty of sing-alongs and an energetic onstage performance that'll take your breath away — and, better yet, won't leave with the geek-guilt you experience after watching Coheed and Cambria.
