Few authors have as great a reach as Dr. Seuss. The estimable writer and artist of dozens of children's books created life-long fans with his clever rhymes and whimsical illustrations, and many of those fans shared the love with their offspring -- and so on and so on, to the end of time. Seussical the Musical draws from many of Seuss' greatest hits, although it focuses on the plight of poor, loveable Horton the Elephant and his mission of protecting the citizens of Whoville. The Cat in the Hat serves as the narrator and frequent bit-part player in the show, as he introduces young Jojo to the power of imagination. Seussical the Musical plays at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday through Monday (Jul 22 through 28) at the Muny in Forest Park (314-361-1900 or www.muny.org). Tickets are $14 to $85.
July 22-28, 8:15 p.m., 2014
