Shark Hunt!

You know the flame you get when you switch on the burner of a gas stove? It's blue, and it's hot. That's exactly how the St. Louis Blues started this season. Not red-hot, Bubba Jacques -- blue-hot. The momentum they accrued in their thrilling run up to last year's Stanley Cup semifinals survived the long, frustrating NHL lockout of the first half of this season. That stored-up feeling of confidence and strength powered them through a revved-up January in which they shredded most every squad they played. The Blues' star newbie, Vladimir Tarasenko, was named NHL Rookie of the Month for January. The flames guttered last week in a pair of ugly losses to Detroit and Nashville -- and then just about died when they blew it against Anaheim and Los Angeles in quick succession -- but it's not too late for the team to stoke the burners and get it back on track in February. So hotfoot it on over to Scottrade Center (1401 Clark Avenue; 314-622-5435 or www.scottradecenter.com) tonight to watch the Blues take care of some San Jose Sharks business. The puck drops at 7 p.m., and tickets are $30 to $290.
