Show Boat Docks on Grand

Hard to believe, but Circus Flora celebrates its 25th year in 2011 -- where did the time go? Our homegrown circus teams up with another local institution, the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra, for three celebratory performances of The Floating Palace. Inspired by the show boat of the same name which once plied the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers, this Floating Palace features acrobats, jugglers, aerialists and a high-wire act telling a story of pirates, spies and romance. This is all achieved inside Powell Symphony Hall, with the SLSO acting as the world’s largest circus band under the baton of Alastair Willis. You ain’t seen nothing like this before. Performances are 7 p.m. Saturday and 2 and 7 p.m. Sunday (January 8 and 9) at Powell Symphony Hall (718 North Grand Boulevard; 314-534-1700 or www.slso.org). Tickets are $30 to $85.
Sat., Jan. 8; Sun., Jan. 9, 2011
