Let us describe the perfect weekend for you: The weather works (i.e., there's no cowering in fear or perpetual sweatiness), you are caught up with your household duties, and work, for once, can wait until Monday. Sounds good so far, yes? The icing on the cake of this rare, magical weekend — or the foam on the beer, as it were — is not only this golden opportunity to relax, but to be able to do so while sampling all kinds of locally brewed beers, without having to run all over town to buy them. All you have to do is head to the central fields of Forest Park (Wells and Faulkner drives) for the Saint Louis Brewers Heritage Festival. By the time you'll arrive, the good people of this fest will have assembled twenty local breweries — Perennial Artisan Ales, 4 Hands Brewing Company, Ferguson Brewing Company and others — that have brought more than 80 different brews for you to try. Ah, yes. That's perfection. Saint Louis Originals' restaurants will graciously feed you in exchange for money (or you can bring some of your own eats), and there's live music. Tickets to this delightful party in the park cost $40 (VIP tickets cost $50) per session, and sessions run from 6 to 10 p.m. on Friday, and from 1 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 11 p.m. on Saturday (June 14 and 15).
