Group art shows offer much to their viewers. There's the variety of subject matter, diverse media and, in the case of Six: Work by Amy Bautz, Deb Douglas, Coby Ellison, Maria Marshall, Carolyn Palmer and Gary Passanise, the new art exhibit at the Mad Art Gallery (2727 South 12th Street; 314-771-8230 or www.madart.com), different perspectives that come, at least in part, because of these local artists' varied ages. Some are fresh out of school; others are award winners who have been creating and showing their work for some time. The result is a dynamic exhibition of paintings, sculptures and more that should make you think about experience versus hunger, established versus up-and-coming — along with whatever emotions the pieces themselves evoke. Six opens with a free public reception from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday, August 6, and the show remains on view throughout the month.
