If the recently released Tape Club doesn't establish Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin as one of the Midwest's most underrated indie-pop bands of the last ten years, nothing will. Last year's ebullient, Chris Walla-polished Let It Sway should have sealed the case, but for doubters comes this 26-track aluminum anniversary overview, studded with lo-fi demos, quick jazzy breakdowns, hand claps and clarinets, doubled acoustic guitars hooks and beach blanket sing-alongs from a beach they can only dream about. In the bedrooms and basements of Springfield, pop dreams come and go, and in the case of SSLYBY, they last.

Matters Because: SSLYBY could have left Missouri behind years ago, but it has stayed close to home and close to St. Louis pop fans' hearts.
