Specter Sniff

The aroma of ghost is in the air

Here's the deal: You don't want to go looking for ghosts with a wimp. You need someone smart and brave — and maybe even a little scary themselves, you know, to protect you. And that's why going on a St. Charles Ghost Tour (www.stcharlesghosts.com) seems like such a good idea. The founder of this organization, Dr. Michael Henry, doesn't look like the kind of man who would allow any spine-chilling monkey business from the Lady in White — or any of her creepy, ghostly friends who also roam South Main Street in St. Charles. See, this guy's a doctor, and he's been studying the phantom world for more than 30 years. So Henry will definitely make you feel safe when strolling past the grounds of an eerie old cemetery, where the tombstones were moved but the bodies never were — now, that just isn't right. Plus, he (or one of his courageous guides) will teach you how to experience the ghosts — did you know they even leave scents behind? To potentially meet (or smell) something cold in the night, sign up for one of the Friday or Saturday excursions by calling 314-374-6102 (reservations are required); tours cost $16 to $20, and they depart from outside the Saint Charles County Historical Society (101 South Main Street) at 7 and 9:30 p.m.
Fridays, Saturdays, 7:30, 9 p.m. & midnight. Starts: June 15. Continues through June 5, 2007
