With so many elves to do the heavy lifting during the run-up to Christmas, the Santas of the world are free to converge on historic St. Charles' cobblestoned Main Street to spread some holiday cheer and dole out collectible Christmas trading cards. All of your favorite Santas are here, including the kilt-wearing "Scottish Santa," the pioneering "Frontier Santa", the North and South Pole unifying "Civil War Santa," and of course, everyone's favorite -- the "Scandinavian Santa," jolly old Julenisse and his pet goat Yuley. This year St. Charles' Christmas Traditions celebrates its 40th anniversary with more than 40 Legends of Christmas characters, pitch-perfect Victorian carolers and stockings full of things to do and see. 6:30-9 p.m. Wed. & Fri., 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Sat., noon-5 p.m. Sun.
