St. Louis Chamber Chorus Concert 3: Christmas, auf Deutsch!

The Chamber Chorus Christmas concert features three major works from the German-speaking world, Mendelssohn motets, for Advent and Christmas; Schutz’s “Deutsches Magnificat”; and Schoenberg’s “Friede auf Erden.” With its call for peace on earth, the Schoenberg work could hardly be more timely. We also explore how composers from beyond Germany treat that culture's seasonal melodies and verse, including American Stephen Paulus, UK's John Rutter and Australian Clare Maclean. The Chorus presents a world premiere, commissioned from former composer-in-residence Yakov Gubanov.
