The St. Louis Chamber Chorus will perform powerful music written for Lent and Palm Sunday: Poulenc motets, a setting of the Lamentations, and “O Crux” by Nystedt, leading proponent of Norwegian music. The church was founded by 19th century German immigrants, so a highlight will be the St. Louis premiere of Mauersberger's 1945 lament for his ruined city of Dresden, “Why Does The City Sit So Solitary?” Also included are pieces for Palm Sunday from Palestrina, Bruckner and R. Thompson, and two works from Great Britain. The church looks out over the Mississippi, boasting beautiful art and rich acoustics.
