St. Louis Creates: Works by Local Artists 

St. Louis has always been a place that shows its hometown pride for locals doing well -- and the art world is no exception. The St. Louis University Museum of Art's latest exhibition, St. Louis Creates: Works by Local Artists, celebrates the work of nine local artists in a variety of media. Luanne Rimel creates her textile art by digitally embedding images on cloth and then stitching over them, while Brian D. Smith's abstract paintings rely on vibrant colors and compositional balance to create a sense of movement. Their work has been around the world but St. Louisans can forever claim the products of their inspiration. St. Louis Creates opens with a free reception at 5 p.m. Friday, November 14.
Wednesdays-Sundays, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Starts: Nov. 16. Continues through Dec. 14, 2014
