St. Louis Happy Hours: Where to go if you want to drink like a fish

This is not a town for the lazy of liver. Drinking was a part of St. Louis culture long before the Anheusers bought their first brewery — and at least a century before Adolphus Busch set foot in this country, much less married into the clan. (What, you thought Pierre Laclede was a teetotaler?)

So while parts of Canada, Europe and even (gasp!) the state of Illinois have banned happy-hour drink specials, hoping to save us from ourselves, St. Louis has held fast. No well-meaning bureaucrat can stop this city from cheap booze and good eats. Here, the question isn't whether to partake in happy hour — it's which bar to hit first.

To that end, our crackerjack research team devoted countless evenings throughout the summer and fall, braving soggy chicken tenders, bad deals and warm beer to come up with a list of St. Louis' best happy hours. Our collection may not be exhaustive of all the good deals out there, but we've gotta admit that we are exhausted.

You'll find even more bargains on our website and by downloading Riverfront Times' happy-hour app. (Get all the details here.) Please note that happy hours are fluid, in more ways than one, and these deals are subject to frequent revision. Who knows how long the good times will roll, even in St. Louis? Better get to the bar while these specials last!
