Tech N9ne

Tuesday, November 15; Pop's (1403 Mississippi Avenue, Sauget, Illinois)

Admit it, folks: Tech N9ne is the closest thing that our sister city to the west, Kansas City, has to a mainstream rap star à la our own Nelly, Chingy, J-Kwon or Murphy Lee. But whereas most KC emcees favor street-inspired gangster-rap tales, Tech N9ne unleashes outrageous antics, rainbow-hued hair dye and rapid-fire rhyme patterns in an effort to not limit his audience. Judging by the recent spate of hardcore KC rappers that have been gunned down (Fat Tone, Mac Dre and Young Kev), Tech's refusal to pigeonhole himself isn't such a bad idea.
