The Art of Living

Stuff, things, possessions. They can be worlds of fun and hold meaning and deep feeling for their owners, but after a certain tipping point they just become too powerful in their numbers. That's when you feel like getting out the giant trash bags and mercilessly clearing house. Polly, a formerly acclaimed photographer, and her husband, Walter, a past-it actor, know the feeling. In fact, the couple is in danger of being evicted from their New York City loft due to Walter's obsessive-compulsive disorder and the hoarding it leads to. They also feel they've lost their way artistically, and their marriage is in a tailspin. Then Rembrandt -- yep, the painter -- magically appears in their apartment to impart lessons on regaining one's vital creative fire and living fully. Tina Howe's Rembrandt's Gift is performed at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday (October 24 through November 9) by Dramatic License Productions (211-A Chesterfield Mall, Suite 510, Chesterfield; 636-821-1746 or www.dramaticlicenseproductions.com). Tickets are $18 to $25.
Fridays, Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sundays, 2 p.m. Starts: Oct. 24. Continues through Nov. 9, 2014
