Experience the excitement of the Metropolitan Opera on the Big Screen! Back by popular demand, an encore prerecorded performance of Chinese composer Tan Dun's epic opera, "The First Emperor," will be rebroadcast for two showings--Wednesday, March 7, at 7 p.m. (local) and Sunday, March 11, at 1:30 p.m. (local) in select movie theatres nationwide. This majestic opera features legendary tenor Plácido Domingo as Emperor Qin, who founded an empire that would survive for 2,000 years. Tan Dun's music is a fascinating mix of East and West and the monumental production is by revered Chinese filmmaker Zhang Yimou ("Raise the Red Lantern and House of Flying Daggers") with costumes by designer Emi Wada ("Kurosawa's Ran"). Tickets $18 adult/$15 child. Please note: These two rebroadcast events are a retransmission of a previously recorded performance.
