To you, Mr. La-Z-Boy achieved the utmost in furniture design with your beloved rocker-recliner. But that plush TV chair is not the latest and greatest in furnishings. For what’s happening now, you’ll have to leave your comfy living room and head down to the Currents 101: Patrick Jouin exhibition at the Saint Louis Art Museum in Forest Park (314-721-0072 or www.slam.org). Jouin is an innovator in the furniture realm because of his design and creation methods, which involve your common lasers. Seriously. The lasers harden the furniture materials (liquid resin or nylon powder) into unique chairs, stools and the like -- and they leave behind no waste (unlike other furniture-making processes). Six of Jouin’s pieces remain on display in Gallery 130 Tuesday through Sunday until Sunday, December 9, and admission is free.
Tuesdays-Sundays. Starts: Sept. 26. Continues through Dec. 9, 2007
