The Fusion of Fun and Fundraising

The Independence Center works locally to provide employment and rehabilitation services to adults with mental illnesses, and that should be reason enough for you to support this organization and its good work. But its Summer Fusion fundraiser makes it even easier to lend a helping hand. Held on the Independence Center's attractive rooftop terrace (4245 Forest Park Avenue), this party offers up eats from McCormick & Schmick's Seafood Restaurant and desserts thanks to Reggie's Backstage Restaurant & Bar. Plus, summery cocktails will be served, and DJ Needles along with Mario Pascal (reggae and roots music) and Fundamental Elements (soul and pop; that's them pictured) provide a danceable nighttime soundtrack. Tickets to the benefit cost $35 in advance and $45 at the door; call 314-880-5403 or visit to learn more and to make a purchase. Summer Fusion begins at 5 p.m.
