The Gentle Hammer

For more than a generation "The Gentle Man of Horror," Peter Cushing, defined British horror at Hammer Film Productions (along with friend and frequent costar, Christopher Lee). Tonight the Way Out Club (2525 South Jefferson Avenue; 314-664-7638) hosts Tom Stockman's Super-8 Peter Cushing Movie Madness, which features condensed versions of three of Cushing's greatest Hammer Horrors: The Gorgon, Twins Of Evil and the very rare Super-8 edition of Horror of Dracula, which includes the film's soundtrack on a vinyl record! Other Cushing films scheduled tonight include The Beast Must Die, Star Wars, At the Earth's Core and Daleks -- Invasion Earth: 2150 A.D., in which Peter takes the TARDIS out for a spin as none other than Doctor Who. The show begins at 8 p.m. Admission is just $3 and entitles you to show off your Cushing cognizance in a way-out trivia contest for fantastic prizes, as well as bragging rights.
