The Good, the Bad and the Tragic

In the city, being close to your friends and family is taken for granted. In more rural areas,paying a visit can be quite the undertaking. Sometimes, though, the sheer effort causes more trouble than actually trekking it down the dirt road. What is scandal without the pretension of innocence? In Bad Things For Good Reasons, Jim Greer's play about a seemingly innocuous group of people in rural southern Missouri, the main character, Al, has the afternoon set aside for a little visit with a friend. Things go from normal to tragic as an unforeseen conflict entraps everyone involved. Al is a con artist but an otherwise nice middle-aged man. There's Valerie, the young, abused beauty and Billy, the mid-twenties maintenance man who loves a good time. Billy's wife, Lisa, is sharp witted with wandering eyes, and their friend Mark, the school's history teacher, is very, very nice but very, very naive. Set on the stage at Meramec Community College (11333 Big Bend Road), this one is for mature audiences only.
