The Grape Escape

After the hullabaloo of the holidays, including the dreaded cleaning-up and packing-away business that we just finished, a little bit of rest and relaxation is in order for everyone. You're probably thinking that an afternoon at Hermannhof or Stone Hill would be nice, but you're figuring nobody goes to the wineries in the winter, right? Actually, now is the perfect time to celebrate Missouri wines, thanks to the Norton Wine Trail weekend. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday (January 12 and 13), stop in at seven wineries along a twenty-mile stretch of the Missouri River between Hermann and New Haven for Norton tastings and delicious food pairings. Tickets are $25 and include a souvenir wine glass; you must reserve your spot in advance by calling the Hermann Chamber of Commerce at 800-932-8687 or by visiting www.hermannmo.info. For more information and a list of all of the participating wineries (which includes the two aforementioned ones), visit www.hermannwinetrail.com.
