The Impulse of the City

Dance pumps it up

You may feel like you're pretty in touch with your body. You're keeping your eye on a few suspect freckles, and you know all about your aching knee. But you're not nearly as aware of the skin you're in as dancers are. They know every inch, every muscle, every tendon; they feel each breath and each resulting heartbeat in a way that you probably don't. Because of how connected they are with themselves, they can present the art of movement in a way that's impressive, yet still accessible. To oohh and ahh while some experienced dancers do what they do best, drop by the Centene Center for Arts & Education (3547 Olive Street) for the Impulse Dance Festival Showcase. This aTrek Dance Collective concert begins at 8 p.m., and admission costs $15 to $20. Find more information by calling 314-772-7778 or visiting
