They're all Scottish, or Americans of Scots lineage. If your reaction to this factoid is an "OK, whatever," proceed to the next piece on the page here, Tex. On the other hand, if you feel a sense of pride, you came to the right event synopsis and you'll definitely want to attend the party we're writing up. For it's the tartan bard Robert Burns' birthday (born, actually, January 25, 1759), an auspicious occasion every loud 'n' proud Scotsman and Scotswoman around the world likes to celebrate -- and the Schlafly Tap Room (2100 Locust Street; 314-241-2337 or www.schlafly.com) wants to ensure you don't forget. Today from 5 to 11 p.m. our hometown indie brewery stalwarts throw their 23rd annual Burns' Night Celebration. There'll be Scots cuisine on hand, a parade of pipers and other live Scottish music, recitations of Burns poems and streams of Scotch ale and whisky.
