The Simple Side of Life

Award-winning storyteller Bobby Norfolk seems like a guy who never has an ill word or a bad day. Always animated, this local treasure truly brings stories to life, and his positive energy is sure to leave you smiling at the end of any of his tales. For Langston Hughes: Conversations with Simple, Norfolk teams up with Blake Travis to present their take on Hughes’ “Simple” stories, with Norfolk playing Jesse B. Semple and Travis as Hughes himself. Expect conversations between the two about everything from race relations to landladies -- and expect to learn a little something, too. Langston Hughes: Conversations with Simple is presented from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Fairview Heights Public Library (10017 Bunkum Road, Fairview Heights, Illinois; 618-489-2070 or www.fairviewheightslibrary.org). Call the library to reserve your spot in advance for this free program, which is suitable for older kids and adults.
