The USA Is a Monster

8 p.m. Sunday, October 1. Lemp Neighborhood Arts Center, (3301 Lemp Avenue)

Let's face it, there's enough crap coming out of Brooklyn these days to fertilize a third-world country. But thankfully, The USA Is A Monster are doing their part to help rectify that. On its MySpace page (www.myspace.com/usaisamonster), the band describes its sound as "Rush meets Melvins meets Corndawg," and although we're not really sure what that means, we sort of agree anyway. Equal parts aggressive and avant-garde, USA's latest release, Sunset At the End of The Industrial Age, shows why it's become the most recognizable underground rock duo since Lightning Bolt. But don't take our word for it: Come out to the show and witness it live for yourself. Oh, and don't forget to tell the doorman that Corndawg sent ya.
