There's a Chili in the Air...

Chili, my friends, just might be the world's most perfect food. It tops — literally and figuratively — the incredible edible egg; it plays nice with hot dogs; and, if we're not mistaken, it's the most important ingredient in that old school-lunch standard, the pepperbelly. Sure, there have been a number of chili cook-offs in the area this fall, but none have raised the somewhere-between-a-soup-and-a-stew to the level of godliness — until now. From 11:15 a.m. to 2 p.m., there's a Chili Cook-Off at Christ Church Cathedral (1210 Locust Street; 314-231-3454) — how's that for holy? During this event a variety of chilis will be available for the tastin', and bingo cards will be out for the playin'. Pay $5 per person to test and score the competitors; drinks cost a little extra. For more information about the cook-off, visit
