These Old Houses

All dressed up!

St. Louis is lucky that a number of its historic structures have been preserved for everyone to admire and enjoy. And you are pretty fortunate that you can have a look at a good number of these buildings, all on one evening (tonight), and all for an affordable rate ($10 to $25). During this one-night, whirlwind tour (officially called the Historic Holiday Candlelight Tour), a bus carries you to the Chatillon-DeMenil Mansion (which also serves a reservations-required dinner for $16.95 from 5 to 8 p.m.), the Old Courthouse, the Samuel Cupples House, the Campbell House Museum, the Scott Joplin House State Historic Site and the Eugene Field House (parking is available at the last three sites listed; more information is available at In addition to the house tours within the main tour, the Etc. Senior Theatre Company performs at all of the locations, which are decorated in fabulous, historic holiday style. Tour tickets are available by calling 314-771-5828, and the appreciation of long-ago happens from 4 to 10 p.m.
