Three Against A Planet

Molly Sloan is your archetypal, 1930s-style intrepid girl reporter -- a Pulitzer Prize winner with a nose for news and no quit anywhere in her body. Tracking down a story about fur smugglers in the Carpathian Mountains, she and her assistant, Timmy Mendez, stumble across the early stages of an invasion force. An invasion force from another planet, that is. Now she, Timmy and Ben Wilcott, a mysterious librarian (aren't they all?), are Earth's first line of defense against the evil sludge monsters from the planet Zygon. What is this delightful story, full of adventure and danger with a little bit of slime, you ask? Why, it is The Intergalactic Nemesis -- the only live-action graphic novel you'll see this year. Actors perform the voices and the sound effects in the style of an old radio play while comic book panels depicting the exotic locales and action are projected above them. The Intergalactic Nemesis takes place at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday (November 18 and 19) at the Edison Theatre on Washington University's campus (6445 Forsyth Boulevard; 314-935-6543 or www.edisontheatre.wustl.edu). Tickets are $20 to $35.
