Thursday, Blood Thursday

Hot on the combat-booted heels of January's kill-'em-all Rambo, select area theaters host a one-night-only, deluxe screening of the original Sylvester Stallone rumble in the jungle, First Blood. With headier fare than the follow-ups, the film pits our hero John Rambo, a traumatized Vietnam vet, against the power-mad Will Teasle, sheriff and BMOC of rural Hope, Washington. Ultimately a vehicle for explosions and neato booby traps, this release features an alternate ending, along with an exclusive Sly Stallone interview. First Blood is shown at 7:30 p.m., so march to the box office of the AMC Chesterfield 14 (291 Chesterfield Mall), the Regal St. Louis Mills Stadium 18 (5555 St. Louis Mills Boulevard, Hazelwood) or the ShowPlace 12 (6633 Center Grove Road, Edwardsville, Illinois) with all possible dispatch.
