Truckstop Honeymoon

With a name like Truckstop Honeymoon and songs like "Waffle House Booth" and "Jesus Ain't Done Jack," the acoustic duo of Katie Euliss and Mike West should have long gone the way of a hundred forgettable Americana shtick bands before them. Instead, the Lawrence, Kansas, partners have built a following that unites coffeehouse hangers and Wakarusa bluegrass hippies. Their secret is shrewdly rhythmic banjo and bass, twangy rockabilly harmonies and story-songs that affectionately satirize the Midwestern world they've called home since Katrina drove them from the Ninth Ward. They capture cougar lust for delivery boys, hoosier walks of shame and the absurdity of Mardi Gras parades in Kansas with all of the raw, sweet charm of their musical and romantic role models Johnny and June.
