Two Men in Manhattan

Two Men in Manhattan, or Deux hommes dans Manhattan, combines all the delicious elements of pulp fiction and film noir one could ever want: danger and espionage in the dark underbelly of New York City, offset by an unsettling jazz score. Director Jean-Pierre Melville stars in his only onscreen role as scoop-hungry reporter Moreau, who is paired with drunk photographer Delmas (Pierre Grasset). The duo attempt to unravel the mystery of a missing French UN diplomat. Their only lead is, of course, a photograph of three mysterious women. Two Men in Manhattan is presented jointly by Cinema St. Louis and the Webster Film Series as part of the Classic French Film Festival.
