Uncomfy, Cozy Home

Feb 6, 2014 at 4:00 am
Forget Al-Qaeda: From bad wiring to unattended stoves, the home is a hazardous place. Craft Alliance's new exhibition, Fail-Safe: Discomforts Close to Home, zeroes in on the unsettling everyday world we live in with provocative work constructed from comforting materials -- mainly fiber. All of the work dates from 2008 to the present, with the uncertainty and fall-out of the economic meltdown a frequent specter in the individual pieces. Fail-Safe opens with a free public reception from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Craft Alliance's Grand Center location (501 North Grand Boulevard; 314-534-7528 or www.craftalliance.org). The show remains up through Sunday, April 20, and the gallery is open Wednesday through Sunday.
Wednesdays-Fridays, 11 a.m.-6 p.m.; Saturdays, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; Sundays, 12-5 p.m. Starts: Feb. 7. Continues through April 20, 2014
