Under Construction

With the Saint Louis Art Museum (Forest Park; 314-721-0072 or www.slam.org) in the midst of a massive, ongoing expansion project, it naturally follows that the works within would begin to reflect the surrounding chaos and change -- after all, life imitates art. And it does so quite literally in Chelsea Knight's contributions to the Currents 106 exhibition series, wherein her main installation mimics the construction site where work on the museum's expansion is under way. Knight's other works on display include video of construction workers reciting relevant feminist writings and The End of All Resistance, a film in which Knight explores torture techniques borrowed from war and applied to various domestic settings. Currents 106: Chelsea Knight opens at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 6, and will remain on display through Sunday, July 1. Admission is free.
