UPDATE: Gringo Jones Building No Longer for Sale, Business Staying in Shaw [PHOTOS]

UPDATE July 20, 2021: Business owner Leon Jones says that after customers expressed an "extreme outpouring of disappointment" that he has had a change of heart about he move. Gringo Jones will stay right where it is in Shaw.

UPDATE April 23, 2021: The business owner says he's just selling the Shaw location. He plans to move the Gringo Jones business to somewhere in Illinois, but his plans aren't yet finalized.

It’s not often that you can buy a St. Louis landmark but here’s your chance: The Gringo Jones building in Shaw (4468 Shaw Boulevard) has hit the market.

Located on a high-traffic street in a cute little retail area that also includes neighbors like World’s Fair doughnuts and Little Shop Around the Corner, the Gringo Jones shop has been an eye-catcher for decades.

The property was hard to miss by tourists and motorists, who all slowed down while passing to gawk at its gigantic sculptures outside and all of the other imported “things from Mexico-o-o,” as the song went in the legendary St. Louis commercial.

Built in 1924, the building contains three bedrooms, four bathrooms and more than 13,000 square feet of space which includes both the shop on the first floor and the spacious apartment upstairs. There’s also a garage with a large workshop, too.
