Valentine for One

Mrs. Joe Bradshaw is middle-aged, the mother of two grown children, and feeling adrift in the doldrums of her life. She's so all-around low, she talks to the kitchen wall of her English semi-detached as she prepares her husband's supper of egg and chips. The days of her youth, of her former self as Shirley Valentine rather than just Joe Bradshaw's missus, seem impossibly distant -- until she gets an invitation from a girlfriend to accompany her on holiday to Greece. Shirley does go to the Mediterranean, where her life changes dramatically. Find out how much it does in Dramatic License Theatre's staging of Willy Russell's comedy Shirley Valentine. The play is performed at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday (February 28 through March 16), with one preview performance at 8 p.m. Thursday, February 27, at Dramatic License Theatre in Chesterfield Mall (Clarkson Road and Chesterfield Parkway South; 636-821-1746 or Tickets are $18 to $25.
