Venus Dominates the Stage

Playwright David Ives' Venus In Fur was a surprise smash on Broadway last year, winning a Tony Award to cement its hit status. Now the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis brings all the sweat, sizzle and seduction to the St. Louis stage for us to lap up. In this sexy, two-person comedy-drama, an actress named Vanda will stop at nothing to land the lead -- a character also named Vanda -- in a new play based on the classic Austrian erotic novel Venus In Furs. In a dynamic cat-and-mouse audition for Thomas, the play's writer-director, the balance of power ebbs and flows the longer the two discuss and read from the play. Venus in Fur is performed every day except Monday (March 6 through 24) in the Emerson Studio Theatre at the Loretto-Hilton Center (130 Edgar Road, Webster Groves; 314-968-4925 or Tickets are $47 to $60.
Tuesdays-Sundays. Starts: March 6. Continues through March 24, 2013
