Virgin Exhibition

Virgin’s head honcho, Sir Richard Branson, knows a thing or two about diversifying his assets. From his humble beginnings as the founder of a mail-order record store, Branson has grown the Virgin brand so that it now encompasses everything from telecommunications to commercial flights into space. Branson has even teamed up with renowned Indian filmmaker Shekhar Kapur and best-selling author/spiritual leader Deepak Chopra to form Virgin Comics. Originally launched with titles based on Asia’s ancient mythology, Virgin’s comics division is now attracting attention by recruiting talent from other media to create new books. Actor Nicolas Cage, the Eurythmics’ Dave Stewart and director Guy Ritchie have all made contributions. You can see the original art from these comics at Star Clipper (6392 Delmar Boulevard, University City; 314-725-9110 or www.starclipper.com). The opening reception runs from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, July 6, and includes an exclusive screening of a trailer for an upcoming Virgin teen horror flick. The show remains up through Friday, August 3.
