We're not going to keep reminding you that downtown St. Louis is coming alive again, and we're not trying to make you feel guilty for your absence during the renaissance. But we do want to encourage you to have a look at all of the changes (and some of our history) during one of Metropolis St. Louis' two-hour Architectural Walking Tours, happening every Saturday through the end of October. The east tour, which meets at the west entrance of the Old Courthouse (11 North Broadway), takes you past lovely historic buildings like the recently renovated Old Post Office (pictured) and the Wainwright building, as well as Busch Stadium and the Eads Bridge. And on the west walk, you get to learn about the significance of St. Louis Union Station, City Hall and Memorial Plaza, among other locales, after departing from outside the Grand Hall entrance to Union Station (west of 18th Street on Market Street). Cost to participate in either tour is $5, and both begin at 10 a.m.; for more information call 314-361-0334 or visit
Saturdays. Starts: Aug. 19. Continues through Oct. 28
