9 p.m. Saturday, September 11. The Billiken Club, in the Busch Student Center on the campus of Saint Louis University, 20 North Grand Boulevard.

Do you get stoned? Wavves does, and singer/founder Nathan Williams wants you to know about it. The 23-year-old is currently running a 2010 victory lap after his Pitchfork-fueled rise in 2009 and subsequent worldwide disaster tour. He snagged Jay Reatard's rhythm section to be his band, Best Coast's Beth Cosentino as his girlfriend and ditched the boom-box fidelity of his second album for his more cutting, effective third LP, King of the Beach. While still reeking of California, self-loathing and a gnarly (?) Brian Wilson obsession, Beach has lyrics that are all about getting sand kicked in your face.
