Over the river and directly across the street from Hofbräuhaus St. Louis in Belleville is the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows, a Catholic shrine devoted to the Virgin Mary.
During the holiday months it is adorned with over 1.5 million Christmas lights detailing the story of Jesus’s birth for the annual Way of Lights display. For a suggested donation, guests may drive through the display, or view it by horse and carriage.
There is also a petting zoo, a quilt raffle and a massive Lego display put on by Lego enthusiasts Gateway Lego Users Group. The Lego exhibit features a life size Lego baby Jesus in a nativity scene, popular St. Louis establishments and even Becky the Queen of Carpets on top of the arch.
You can visit the Way of Lights from 5 to 9 p.m. nightly, except for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
